How cool is this? In our age of overblown consumerism, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, someone came up with a day dedicated to giving back. I love it!
I’d not heard of it before this morning, when I received a couple of emails from non-profits I support, but it’s been around for a few years now. Started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, Giving Tuesday refers to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the U.S. and has quickly become an international day of giving.
How nice that it’s at the beginning of the Christmas holiday season reminding us all of God’s ultimate gift of salvation.
I hope it gains traction – a lot of traction!
Facebook it, Tweet it (#GivingTuesday), Pin it! But most of all, live it. Give back this holiday season by donating to your favorite charity or by simply volunteering your time. There are so many of us who have so much and so very many who desperately need our help.
Have you touched anyone lately?
